Trifolium ambiguum, commonly known as Caucasian clover or Kura clover, is a perennial species of clover native to Europe and Asia, particularly found in the regions surrounding the Kura River, which flows through Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. This species is recognized for its robustness and adaptability, making it an important plant in both agricultural and ecological contexts.

Trifolium ambiguum is a rhizomatous plant, which allows it to spread and cover ground efficiently. It has a deep root system that contributes to its drought tolerance and enables it to access nutrients from deeper soil layers. The leaves of Caucasian clover are trifoliate, typical of the Trifolium genus, with each leaflet being oval-shaped and often displaying a white V-shaped marking. The flowers are pink to white and form dense, spherical heads.

Originally from the Caucasus region, Trifolium ambiguum has been introduced to various parts of the world, including North America and New Zealand, for agricultural purposes. It thrives in meadows, grasslands, and open forest areas, preferring well-drained soils. Its adaptability to different soil types and environmental conditions has facilitated its spread beyond its native range.
