Venetie is a village located in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2010 Census, the population of the village was 166. Venetie is notable for its significant Native Alaskan population, with over 97% of residents identifying as Native Alaskan, primarily of the Gwich'in tribe.

Venetie is located at Script error: The module returned a nil value. It is supposed to return an export table.. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 20.5 square miles, all of it land.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 Census, there were 166 people residing in the village. The racial makeup of the village was 97.6% Native Alaskan, 1.2% White, and 1.2% from two or more races.

Healthcare[edit | edit source]

Venetie is served by the Yukon-Koyukuk School District and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. The village has a clinic managed by the Tanana Chiefs Conference, which provides primary health care services. The nearest hospital is in Fairbanks, approximately 280 miles away.

Education[edit | edit source]

The village is served by the Yukon-Koyukuk School District. The John Fredson School, named for a notable Gwich'in leader, provides education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Venetie is not connected to any outside communities by road. The primary means of access is by air, with the Venetie Airport providing scheduled and charter flights to Fairbanks and other communities in the region.
