Wei Yang (biologist)

Wei Yang is a distinguished biologist and biochemist, renowned for her significant contributions to the field of structural biology. She is currently a Senior Investigator at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

Wei Yang was born in China. She moved to the United States for her higher education. She completed her undergraduate studies in Chemistry at Sichuan University and later pursued her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Princeton University.

After completing her Ph.D., Yang joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a postdoctoral fellow. She later became a Senior Investigator at the NIH, where she currently leads a research team focusing on DNA repair and replication.

Yang's research primarily revolves around the structural and mechanistic understanding of DNA repair and replication. Her work has significantly contributed to the understanding of how cells maintain genetic integrity and how mutations in DNA repair proteins lead to cancer and other diseases.
