William J. Deboe (1849–1927) was an American politician who served as a United States Senator from Kentucky. Born in Crittenden County, Kentucky, Deboe moved to Marion, Kentucky after completing his education to practice law. William Joseph Deboe was born on December 30, 1849, in Crittenden County, Kentucky. He pursued his early education in the local schools of his community before attending Marion Academy. Demonstrating a keen interest in law, Deboe went on to study at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he earned his law degree. After his graduation, he returned to Marion, Kentucky, to establish his law practice.

Deboe's political career was characterized by his deep involvement in the Republican Party's activities in a state that was predominantly Democratic at the time. His political journey began with his election as the circuit court clerk for Crittenden County, a role that introduced him to the intricacies of political office.

In 1897, Deboe made a significant leap in his political career by being elected to the United States Senate as a Republican, marking a rare victory for his party in Kentucky. During his tenure in the Senate, which lasted until 1903, Deboe was known for his advocacy on issues related to education and labor.
