Woodland Hills is a neighborhood located in the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. Known for its warm climate and scenic beauty, Woodland Hills is home to a diverse population and a wide range of businesses and attractions.

Woodland Hills is bordered by Calabasas, Tarzana, Topanga and Canoga Park. The neighborhood is situated in the southwestern region of the San Fernando Valley, which is part of the larger Los Angeles metropolitan area.

History[edit | edit source]

The area that is now Woodland Hills was originally inhabited by the Native American tribes of the Fernandeño and Tataviam. In the 18th century, it became part of the Mission San Fernando Rey de España, a Spanish mission. The area was later developed as a residential and commercial district in the mid-20th century.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 census, Woodland Hills had a population of approximately 60,000 residents. The neighborhood is diverse, with a mix of different ethnicities and cultures represented.

Economy[edit | edit source]

Woodland Hills is home to a variety of businesses, including many in the financial services industry. The neighborhood is also known for its retail sector, with the Westfield Topanga & The Village shopping center being a major economic hub.

Education[edit | edit source]

Woodland Hills is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District, with several public and private schools located within the neighborhood. The area is also home to Los Angeles Pierce College, a community college.

Recreation[edit | edit source]

The neighborhood offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including the Woodland Hills Recreation Center and the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, a large park with hiking trails.

Infrastructure[edit | edit source]

Woodland Hills is well-connected by several major roads, including the Ventura Freeway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard. The area is also served by several Los Angeles Metro bus lines.
