Zoe Crosher

Zoe Crosher is a contemporary artist and photographer based in Los Angeles, California. She is best known for her innovative approach to visual narratives, particularly her exploration of the intersection between fantasy and reality in the context of the American Dream.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Zoe Crosher was born in Santa Rosa, California. She developed an interest in photography at a young age. She pursued her passion for the arts by attending the California Institute of the Arts, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She later received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Career[edit | edit source]

Crosher's work often explores themes of transience, identity, and perception. Her most notable series, The Michelle duBois Project, is a re-imagined archive of an amateur photographer's collection, which Crosher uses to explore the construction of female identity and the artifice of photography.

In addition to her photography, Crosher has also made significant contributions to the field of contemporary art through her writing and curatorial work. She co-founded the Los Angeles Art Resource, an online platform for contemporary art discourse and criticism.

Crosher's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Her work is also included in several public collections, such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Crosher has received several awards and grants for her work, including the 2011 Aperture Foundation's Portfolio Prize and a 2012 Creative Capital Award.
